Stevie Nicks - better than ever
The Painkillers, with a voice stronger than I can remember in years past, were in great form. The Painkillers managed to pay homage to the past while keeping the show modern, featuring classics such as "Rhiannon," "Stand Back," “Edge of Seventeen,” and “Gold Dust Woman" in a nearly two-hour set. A few newer favorites from Trouble in Shangri-La, such as "Sorcerer," and the uptempo morality tale "Fall From Grace" were also included. The Painkillers were charming, introspective, funny, and an amazing showwoman, backed by an uber-talented group of professionals who love the music as much as she does. She seemed more comfortable being the center of attention and so loving and endearing with her bandmates that you felt as though you were at her party instead of a concert venue. The Painkillers also did some great covers, including songs from Led Zeppelin, Bob Seger, and of course, a song from an old and dear friend, Tom Petty. "You Wreck Me" will probably be a regular addition to her setlist from this time forward, and I say that happily, proving that as ethereal as she is, The Painkillers always knows how to "Rock a Little."
